Mercy Parklands has 100 employees
who receive additional support from a team of dedicated and
caring volunteers.
Our staff are selected for their skills and interest in
caring for the health of older adults. Registered nurses
supervise care 24 hours a day and are dedicated to maintaining
the health and wellbeing of residents.
Nursing and care staff work with doctors, physiotherapists
and occupational therapists to provide the highest standard
of care.
Doctors visit regularly and provide 24-hour coverage.
We invest heavily in ongoing training and staff development
and are committed to the wellbeing of our staff, their health
and safety. We also provide a caring and support environment
for residents, staff and volunteers.
Mercy Parkland’s commitment to the health of the communities
it serves is shown by the many partnerships developed to
meet the needs of the community.
Some of these partnerships include: Te Waipuna Puawai Mercy
Oasis and Te Ara Awhina Sisters of Mercy Elderly Outreach.
Ann Coughlan - Chief Executive
The environment in which Catholic Healthcare operates is
increasingly demanding. The changing nature of society and
the demands of the New Zealand community make care of the
elderly a specialist area, requiring a variety of services
to meet the needs required for each individual.
It is increasingly essential for Mercy Parklands to be able
to anticipate developing needs and adapt our services to
meet the community we serve. When I look back at our history
I see we have come a long way but the distance travelled
is just the start towards our planned destination.
A warm welcome awaits you at our beautiful facility, conveniently
located in attractive park-like grounds adjacent to the wetland
reserve on the Ellerslie-Remuera boundary.
Waiatarua Mercy Parklands Hospital and Rest Home is a 96-bed
facility, offering a care package which includes rest home,
hospital, respite and palliative care services.
Dennis Horton - Director for Mission
Our mission at Waiatarua Mercy Parklands calls us to be
leaders in the field of residential care for the elderly.
The vision we share with the Sisters of Mercy is holistic,
offering an environment where both residents and those caring
for them know that they are valued.
Skilled staff combine competence with dedication which,
along with an emphasis on quality and best practice, means
we are committed to ongoing improvement.
There is an emphasis on spiritual as well as physical and
emotional needs and pastoral care is a vital component of
the service we provide. Mercy Parklands is a place where
community is fostered, events from the past remembered and
today’s achievements celebrated. For all of us, it’s Mercy
mission that makes the difference.
